The church committee approved David to undertake the restoration project.

As you can see from the images below, he stripped the doors back to the bare wood. This removed all the many layers of finishes that had accumulated over the years.

David then sanded each door before applying three coats of a hard-wearing exterior finish: osmo 420 UV Protection Oil. osmo is his chosen product for this type of work.  It helps protect against UV damage (sun bleaching) as well as the durability and resistance to weather damage and algae.

The transformation is amazing with the church doors are clean and back to the natural pine colour. David recommends maintenance coats to exterior wood every few years. This helps to retain the protection against weather and wear and tear.

Both parishioners and the Church committee are delighted with the results.

Each piece had its own issues but all were badly damaged by smoke.

David stripped, sanded and applied a clear satin finish to both the large dining table and sideboard. Both pieces now look as new and are statement pieces in our customer’s large kitchen dining area.

The small seat was originally dark wood and looked out of place in their newly refurbished home. David suggested a colour change to Farrow and Ball Skimming Stone colour. He stripped the seat back to the bare wood to remove the smoke damage and applied two coats of primer and top coat. Combined with a clean and revive of the woven seat pad, as you can see, the restoration speaks for itself.

This restoration is an example of how badly smoke damaged furniture can be restored to ‘as new’.

Our customer was keen for the gentleman’s dressing table to be restored to its original condition and asked David to undertake the work.

He carefully removed the old polish and sanded the bare wood to restore and revive the natural colour before polishing. Mahogany is beautifully rich in colour and this piece shows what can be achieved.

The dressing table has now been restored back to its former glory and is a fabulous statement piece.

Over 5 days, David stripped off the dark colour stain from the parquet floor and sanded it to revive the natural colour of the wood; bringing it to life.

Our customer wanted to the parquet floor to be finished with a clear, hard wearing polish.  As you can see, the rooms are much lighter as a result and the parquet floor looks brand new.

David stripped back the existing finish and sanded the dining table top to bring out the colour of the wood.  He then applied three coats of a high sheen finish to maximise the depth of colour.  Mahogany is a beautiful rich wood and as you can see, this mahogany dining table now looks fabulous.

David stripped and carefully sanded the table before applying a lighter stain to show off the wood’s natural beauty.  He added a wax finish, to highlight the grain and sheen.  As you can see, the table looks fabulous and will do so for many years to come.

David discussed the options and helped her choose the best colour to match her requirements.  He advised he can colour match to any existing colour, or from specific Laura Ashley or Farrow and Ball colour charts, in gloss, satin or matt.  For these pieces, she chose a Farrow & Ball Charleston Grey in a matt finish.

He stripped the existing polish before applying two coats of primer and three further top coats.The coloured polish is applied without using paint brushes to ensure a totally uniform and professional finish.

As you can see, this is a great way to completely change the look of any piece of furniture, both old and new.

We recently were tasked with a full piano restoration. This piano had a number of scuff marks, scratches and general wear and tear to the lid top and sides.  Whilst still in full working order, the instrument was looking very tired and worn.  Being black, the marks and damage were very noticeable, with bare wood beginning to show through.  Our customer asked David to repair the damage and to bring the piano body back to life.

Rather than fully strip back and re-polish the woodwork, which would’ve removed the stencilling to the piano lid, David used an ebonised polish to colour match and repair each area of damage in turn.  He then gave the whole piano a clean and revive to restore the shine.  As you can see from the before and after photographs below, the instrument now looks as new.
