]]> Our customer asked David to transform her Priory drawers with a complete colour change.  Previously stained with a dark finish, David stripped the unit back to bare timber and lightly sanded it before priming.  This is to make sure the finish is even as well as ensuring the primer adheres to the wood.  He then finished with 3 coats of pigmented polish – Laura Ashley Pure White in satin.  As you can see, the Priory drawer unit is completely transformed.

Our customer was delighted with the results.

]]> Our customer was looking for some new bedside tables to match her existing decor.  Whilst she could find the style she liked, they were only available in a natural polished finish.  She approached David Warburton Limited to see if we could help re-finish the furniture in her preferred colour.

David discussed the options and helped her choose the best colour to match her requirements.  He advised he can colour match to any existing colour, or from specific Laura Ashley or Farrow and Ball colour charts, in gloss, satin or matt.  For these pieces, she chose a Farrow & Ball Charleston Grey in a matt finish.

He stripped the existing polish before applying two coats of primer and three further top coats.The coloured polish is applied without using paint brushes to ensure a totally uniform and professional finish.

As you can see, this is a great way to completely change the look of any piece of furniture, both old and new.

]]> Our customer was renovating and rather than buying a new fire surround, wanted transform their existing walnut surround to match dark coloured furniture and new décor. Importantly, they also wanted to be able to still see the grain within the wood once complete.

Rather than applying a pigmented lacqeur which would have hidden the grain, David stripped off the existing clear finish and applied a dark black/brown stain.  He carefully layered the stain to make sure the colour matched existing pieces of furniture as closely as possible. He then sealed it with a hard-wearing polish with a matt finish, again to ensure the fire surround complemented the existing furniture as closely as possible.  As you can see from the testimony below posted on Facebook, it is a great way to change the look and feel of a room and our customer was delighted with the result!

David was asked to restore three Parish Council exterior cabinets that had been in situ for approximately 20 years. Made from mahogany with oak posts the exterior cabinets required stripping down, sanding and refinishing with a hardwearing polish for external use.

The oak posts were rotten through, so replaced with new seasoned oak. Mahogany and oak contrast well together so it was agreed to retain the natural oak colour of the posts.

Refreshed signwriting provides a clear and crisp finish to the text and new clasps, bolts and catches add the finishing touches.

You’ll agree the exterior cabinets are now a credit to the Council and should withstand a number of years outside in the elements.

]]> This small chair has been with our client’s family for over 40 years and has some knocks to prove it!  Whilst all the children are now grown up, it is clear that this chair is a much loved piece in need of some attention.

David has stripped, sanded and applied a clear lacquer finish, revealing a mahogany seat with beach legs and spindle back.  It may be over 40 years old, but this small chair now looks like new!

“I would never have thought it possible to restore this little chair to better than I remember it when it was new, about 40 years ago. Passed on to grandchildren it could be deemed an heirloom!”
