Our customer suffered a house fire but managed to rescue some smoke damaged furniture which she asked David to restore. The pieces included a large oak dining table, oak sideboard and small seat.
Each piece had its own issues but all were badly damaged by smoke.
David stripped, sanded and applied a clear satin finish to both the large dining table and sideboard. Both pieces now look as new and are statement pieces in our customer’s large kitchen dining area.
The small seat was originally dark wood and looked out of place in their newly refurbished home. David suggested a colour change to Farrow and Ball Skimming Stone colour. He stripped the seat back to the bare wood to remove the smoke damage and applied two coats of primer and top coat. Combined with a clean and revive of the woven seat pad, as you can see, the restoration speaks for itself.
This restoration is an example of how badly smoke damaged furniture can be restored to ‘as new’.
