Fire Surround

Our customer was renovating and rather than buying a new fire surround, wanted transform their existing walnut surround to match dark coloured furniture and new décor. Importantly, they also wanted to be able to still see the grain within the wood once complete.

Rather than applying a pigmented lacqeur which would have hidden the grain, David stripped off the existing clear finish and applied a dark black/brown stain.  He carefully layered the stain to make sure the colour matched existing pieces of furniture as closely as possible. He then sealed it with a hard-wearing polish with a matt finish, again to ensure the fire surround complemented the existing furniture as closely as possible.  As you can see from the testimony below posted on Facebook, it is a great way to change the look and feel of a room and our customer was delighted with the result!
